Mask

The Mask, originally uploaded by Harold does Photos.

I want to use this in a photoshoot. To see how I setup the shot click link below.

This was from a previous post but I made a snoot. Not the same snoot used last time because that was a one time use thing made of poster board a scotch tape. The new is made out of the same poster board but re-enforced with electrical tape (Yeah, I spent the big buck on this one.)

Pretty shnazzy right? I know.

So here's the exact set up.

So I attached the snoot to my Nikon SB-800 with a ball bungee (That's right, Strobist stylist.) pointed towards the mask. I want to use the reflector to bounce back to light. The reflector in the back was to high to actually do anything. I didn't notice till the took a picture of the set up. I used my Nikon D80 built in flash to trigger the Nikon SB-800 with CLS.

I change my lens 3 time during this shoot. The Mask shoot was with my nikkor 70-300mm. Started with a nikkor 50mm f/1.8. Ended with a sigma 28-70mm f2.8 to get the set up shot.

On a note: My other speedlight, Nikon SB-600 died on me today. That's why I used my SB-800 and trigger it with the D80. I called Nikon to get in fixed. They want me to send it in and they'll see what's wrong with it. I don't have the receipt anymore so I guess I'm going to have to pay for the repair. Craps!!

Week 12: Spam Musubi.

Spam Musubi, originally uploaded by Harold does Photos.

Actually shot a lot more but this was my favorite. They don't call me Lord Spam for nothing.

I got the idea to do a food product shot from the SG. The have a thread there and the title of it is "What did you Eat today? Food photography" So, I haven't had a spam musubi is such a while the I decided to go get some and take a picture of it. While I was at L & L I got the regular chicken Katsu for only $4.95 (on special from 4pm - 10pm). I also made a video of me explaining the set up and everything.

So anyway. I shot with two models this week.
On Sunday I shot Elle V.
Wet

Then on Friday I shot Mia.

Week: 10: Night Owl Shoot
After glow

Shot with Dee in the early morning hours of the Las Vegas on the Strip.

So Mike of Polarpics, Mario of 702photos, Dirt Riggs and myself were up on the strip in the wee early morning hours trying to strip some long exposure stuff with DeeBaby. We started at Caesar's and walking around shooting. Went from new spot to new spot. Then we stumble on the making of a Music Video. Katie Perry's music video to be exact. Our model, Dee, Look like Katie Perry so guess what we decide to do. Yup, we told everyone that she was Katie Perry and a few people bought it. Got a couple of great pictures and meet some really nice people. Ended the night with steak and eggs and some beer.

We said she was Katie Perry and they bought it.

Week 9

I had 3 photoshoot this week.

I had one on sunday with Chasa in an undisclosed area which I added on the post before this. One with Angelique (photo above) on Wednesday at Town Square Las Vegas. Both shoots were shot with only ambient (available) light. I didn't want to carry around a light stand and umbrella in Town Square.

Then I shot on Thursday with Chasa because she wanted to be a Vampire. It all spawned because of Twilight and her being a fan of Team Edward. Whatever, I'm not a fan of Twilight, even though I read all the books, but I like the shot anyway.

She looks mean here.

Second try with Natural Light. 3 version of the same photo.

Insane Asylum

I want to test my new Lens. A Sigma 28-70 f/2.8. for the most part I wanted to do everything with natural light. Inspired by Mario of 702photo

This is the finished photo which the model love.

When I started I had a reflector and that wasn't working out the way I wanted it too. So I was like "fuck it" and broke out the strobe. Then after a outfit change, I was going to use my new Manfrotto flash bracket (still wanted to try every new item I have). With the flash bracket on I was about to set up with a light then decide to shoot a few more using Natural light. I'm glad I decide to, It was fun and a learning experience. I'll going to do more natural light photos in the future.

Color Version

I'm going to show the RAW image but this is how it started. This would be my favorite version.

I scooped out this location and shot here before. I saw the glass and thought it would be cool to do some "behind the glass" shots. After reviewing the images we thought images looked scary. So Chasa had this idea to do it ever more dramatic with the hair covering her eyes. And I like it.

B & W version

When I was shooting this particular series of images I thought it would look cool in black and white. I actually choose a different image at first to start with but decide to use this image instead.

So after looking at the images, I decide to get more in-depth with the CS3 (So I do forget how to use this program) and add just a bit of color.

I was if-fy about it. I liked it but I was diggin' the Color Version way better. I show Chasa she like the one with just a bit of color. I went with the model decision.

That's all for now. This is NOT apart of the "52 week" project.
