Merry Christmas
I know I haven't been post on here in a awhile. Sorry. I going to try something new for the New Year. 365 project.I going to either try and take a picture on the same spot the same time of day. Or Whatever picture I decide to take and post type thing. Whatever I decide, I'm going to take more pictures in 2009.
So keep a look out. Starting some crazy shooting in January.

I guess I want to start something original. So everyone person I take a picture of (beside newsletter mug shots) I'll ask them to throw up the peace sign.

Dry Lake Bed
The things you can do with a point and shoot and some post editing. That's right. I took this with my party cam (the kodak V550) that I bought about 3-4 years ago. I edited with adobe lightroom. It took me all of two minutes. I wish I had a model to shoot though. Full post here.

I've been busy
The last few days I've shot with 3 different models.
This list is from most recent.
This would be Angelica. July 9
She's know how to work it.
Zea, who is always awesome. July 7
My favorite shoot of the week. Very professional.
Ashley, Who is super cool. July 6
I had a great time with her.
If the schedule I set for myself keeps up, I'll be busy all of July. I really do enjoy breaking out the camera, setting up sets and taking pictures.
Now I'm knee deep in editing. I should get back to it. I need two things 1) a better editing program and 2) a faster computer.
And as always. More on the Flickr

Stood up
A model flaked on me today. This would be the second time this has happen.
I took these while I was waiting.
Green Valley is really green for being in the desert. Beautiful place.
I decide if she didn't show up, this would be my last shot of the day before I left. I wanted to use a strobe since I brought it with me.
I realize that models only want to work experienced and established photographers. Most new photographers can't get work with models unless they have worked with models before. It's a catch 22. There's a select few that will give a newbie a chance and I thank them for that.
It's only going to make me work harder. For some strange reason I really want to do this photography thing.
I took a job offer for my company's new magazine as a event photographer. It's a start.

More Adventures. Now with extra Photoshop.
I recently got a free trail version of Photoshop elements 6. So I decide to try it out.
The above image would be the OG (that's original if you didn't know.)
And this would be the edited version.
Not to bad, huh?
Both shot were taken by Kimz at Paseo Verde Park in Green Valley. Just before the Big Game. Which I'm still deciding if I should put pictures up from it. You'll know on the next post.
P.S.
If you guys are wondering, that's my "Say Cheese and Smile" face. When you point a camera in my direction most likely you will get a chinky looking MoFo and a grin that will scare small children away. I know, I rock.

Another Photo Trip
Photo trip again. I went Town Square today (I was actually there yesterday too. I watch Doomsday. It was Okay.)I went around 5:00ish and It was still really bright outside. I was going to wait it out for better light but I got impatient and left. I really didn't take that many photos, so I didn't have much that many to choose from.
The shot above is the best (I think) that I shot today. (Of course I added the sepia effect in post.) this was shot at the back of Town Square and I really think I wasn't suppose to be here.
When I was ready to go home I peeped at the moon and decide to take more picture of it. I edited with Nikon Picture Project. I really want Photoshop elements so I can do some cool stuff. Oh well, got to work with what you got, right?

Inter-Web Addict
This is what I do every night til the wee hours of the morning if i'm not out. Then when I wake up after I use the bathroom I turn on my computer. True addict style.
Anyway, I got new gear. I got a Nikon SB-800 speedlight and SC-29 TLL sync cord to go with it. And as always I want to use my new stuff so I took the photos above. I read the manual for a like a minute and then toss it a side and just fiddle with all the buttons like I normally do.
I also got my Moo Mini-Cards today.

Re-Creation of a Classic
I like to try re-create images that look interesting to me. I suppose it's a test of where I'm at as a photographer.

Self Portrait Time
Since I can't find anybody to model for me (I'm not really trying, but I will) the best I've got is myself. This one I was just fuckin' around. It's one of the last pics I took.
I took this one first and it looks like I'm about to beat the shit out of somebody. Maybe that's why everyone thinks I'm mean.

The School Across the Street.
I've been eye balling this for some photo taking for a while now. I waited for the right time of day which is typically early morning sunrise (I don't do mornings) or late afternoon dusk. I did this around 5:00pm or so. I wish I had two strobes. I wanted to light the "Vigin Mary" also.

Blast from the Past
It's time to reminisce. This is the basketball court of where i went to school. Dededo Middle School (DMS), which is now called San Vicente Middle School or something to that affect. I took this shot on my vacation to see my good friend get married back in 2006. I don't think I got out of the car to take this. I was just driving around my old neighborhood and took a quick pic.
On a side note, I'll be a year older soon.

Yoga meets Fight Club
This is one amazing shot. It's from Martin Prihoda. I was cruising the flickr strobist group checking out all the great photos there and this stood out for me. I wish i could do something like this. I bet with time and practice (and model would help) I can achieve this.

The Great American Pin-Up
I got this new Pin-up book and of course I wanted to take a picture of it. I was trying something new with the flash. I set the power on the lowest setting available which was 1/128. I also had a diffuser on it. It kind of looks underexpose but I think it's better the other shot with a higher flash output. A more natural feeling I believe. I also shot this in RAW format. It's not the first time I shot things is RAW but I think I'll do it more often than not.

Rummaging through old Photos
These were taken about a year ago (give or take a couple or months.) Nothing really special here. I took them on top of a parking garage. I believe it was the Wynn. The top one is with my D50 and bottom one is with my D80.

Do It Yourself Mini-Softbox Diffuser
I made mini-softbox diffuser out of cardboard, electrical tape and tracing paper. It took all of about 45 minutes to measure it out, cut and put it together.
It measures about 5 inches by 5 inches at the opening.
Without Softbox Diffuser:
Harsh (hard) light on the image. Just a little overexposed.
With Softbox Diffuser:
Softer light evenly speard out.
In all honesty, I think the harsh light looks better then the diffused light in the photo comparison. There's a uses for both lights. It's a matter of when and where. Also what is the lighting situation and presonal preference. All in all it depends of the photographer and the subject.
