Yoga meets Fight Club

Lotus, originally uploaded by martin prihoda.

This is one amazing shot. It's from Martin Prihoda. I was cruising the flickr strobist group checking out all the great photos there and this stood out for me. I wish i could do something like this. I bet with time and practice (and model would help) I can achieve this.

The Great American Pin-Up

Pin-up Art, originally uploaded by Roldie.

I got this new Pin-up book and of course I wanted to take a picture of it. I was trying something new with the flash. I set the power on the lowest setting available which was 1/128. I also had a diffuser on it. It kind of looks underexpose but I think it's better the other shot with a higher flash output. A more natural feeling I believe. I also shot this in RAW format. It's not the first time I shot things is RAW but I think I'll do it more often than not.

Rummaging through old Photos

Las Vegas Sunset

Las Vegas Sunset, originally uploaded by Roldie.

These were taken about a year ago (give or take a couple or months.) Nothing really special here. I took them on top of a parking garage. I believe it was the Wynn. The top one is with my D50 and bottom one is with my D80.

Do It Yourself Mini-Softbox Diffuser

DIY mini-softbox diffuser, originally uploaded by Roldie.

I made mini-softbox diffuser out of cardboard, electrical tape and tracing paper. It took all of about 45 minutes to measure it out, cut and put it together.

It measures about 5 inches by 5 inches at the opening.

Without Softbox Diffuser:

Harsh (hard) light on the image. Just a little overexposed.

With Softbox Diffuser:

Softer light evenly speard out.

In all honesty, I think the harsh light looks better then the diffused light in the photo comparison. There's a uses for both lights. It's a matter of when and where. Also what is the lighting situation and presonal preference. All in all it depends of the photographer and the subject.

Through the Rise of Roldie and the Fall of Lt. Spam :
My Return

Snoopy Art Work at the Venetian, originally uploaded by Roldie.

I went out on a photo trip today, if that's what you want to call it. It always seems that when I decide to go out to take some photos I always go to the Bellagio first. But on the way there I saw that the new Palazzo (hotel/casino whatever it is) building was open. So after the Bellagio I went there to check it out. It a beautiful place. Better than the Wynn I think.

I messing around with all the compensation and bracketing settings when I was trying to take photos of the water show. So when I got to the other places I forgot to change them back. So almost all my the photos I took look underexposed. It was all most a bust. Live and Learn, I guess.

I have decide to drop the Lt. Spam title. I'm not really a LT., but I do still like spam so that's a keeper. I'll still be Lord Spam on somethings but I rather use a part of my real name on this blog. After all this blog is about my Photography adventures and myself. Full post here.

Just another update.

I had some fun last week. I went to this place called the "freakin' frog" by the university. It's was a remodeling party with free beer (that's the main reason I went.) So the whole plan was to expand the place by knocking down this wall. What better way to knock down a wall for free is to give people free drinks. Drunk people swinging a sledge hammer at a wall that never did no harm to anyone equal good times.

Also went to PT's the last two monday without The Captain. It was interesting. Josh show up, you know, it's the guy in all the PT's story. It was all cool though. We didn't stay out that late. It was just a little wierd that's all.

I can't think of anything else to say. So later. Full post here.

The Captain lefted today.

One of my very good friends left for D.C. today.

let me tell you the story.

About a month or so ago The Captain got denied for his transfer to D.C. area. He got fed up of waiting and put his two weeks in.

On Saturday was the going away party. We had some fun as always. Bunch of people show up. Half of them I didn't even know. It's all good though. It's good to see that there is a lot of people that like The Captain. Who woundn't right? Got a good buzz going and was feeling nice. I think The Captain felt the same.

On Sunday is the day I usally pick up The Man himself to go to work. But last Thursday was his last day at work so I didn't. I did find myself going the same way to to drop him off though. It's wierd, I caught myself and was like "dude, I have to go to T2 and shit." Not much to that.

Monday night (really Tuesday morning.)
Tae and myself had our last drinks at P.T. on dollar draft night around 3:30 yesterday morning with The Captain. I dropped him off at his house at 4 something. We said our good byes (actually only said "see you later" with our usally ending word of "holler.")

Now he's gone. I've been asking myself "what am I going to do now?" It's like a part of my life is done. No one can drink like us. I can't find a replacement drinking buddy. That's wrong. It's been for a while "The Captain and Spam" together. I always go out at night with him. My stories always involve him.

I'm just down that he left. But I'm happy that his doing what he wants to do.

It's not like I'm not going to see him again. I'll go to Washington D.C. (I've never been.) Me and Tae are going to crash the party that The Captain and Nino Crevasa is having. Party like old times.

Later Bitches.

P.S.
This made me feel better. Full post here.

One Boring Day.

So Today I didn't do much. I was awaken by my father phone call around noon, telling me to go down stairs and eat. Doesn't he know I went to sleep at almost 5:00 am in the morning. Never the less after about ten more minutes of sleep I went down there look around and went back up stair. I started to mess with my laptop (which I'm still on by the way.) I put music match on it because I think that the best program for music organiznation. After that I started to make copies of albums for people that I said I'd do. Around 1:30 pm I finish my sister CD's and decide to wake her up. We ate some breakfast/lunch together while our father saying why didn't you eat earlier. He was cooking something and I guess we were in his way. After that My sister and I went to see our mother. She'll doing okay I think. Then I dropped my sister off at work and since I was there I went the sign my OPM. Went home and started burning more CD's. I said I send Ed something. So, after I made him a Mixtape (which I entitle "song on a Mixtape Vol. I,") I wrote him a letter. after I wrote the letter I re-wrote the letter because my handwriting looks like shit. that didn't take to long. When I was finished with that I upload some pictures/photos on my Flickr account. Now I'm doing this blog. Pretty uneventful day. The home life I call it.

The other day was the Captain Birthday. I took him out and we had some fun. I'll just say one word "Titties." On his birthday I bought a album for myself. remember a while back when I said there was this band playing on the radio in Hot Topic at the Fashion Show Mall. No you don't remember. Then you weren't listening. Now get that finger out of your nose or ass and pay attention. You can look at Porn later.I thought the name the of the band of dragon Fire or something. I almost given up hope on find them until one night I was on Myspace and heard some awesome music on my friend Rockit Ron page. It was DragonForce. Anyway, I bought the album and it kick ass. It's so fucking awesome that I can't stop listen to them. Crazy!!

I've been watching a bunch of videos on youtube.com a lot lately. I found some video of the kids from Guam. Sex Bomb or some shit. It's fucking funny. I wish I thought of that shit. fuckin' kids now a days take all the good shit. keep it up bitches. Make me laugh.

Holler. Full post here.
